Sunspace Cafe – Doonan /Noosa 2nd review

I’ve been to the Sunspace Cafe in Doonan (not far from Noosa and the Eumundi Markets) several times since they opened and each time I’ve been there it has changed. I guess the correct word to use would be “evolved”

Interestingly enough, my monthly website statistics reports that views of the Sunspace review I did last year consistently gets the most page views . No idea why – but if you’re interested – click here to read my first review of Sunspace Cafe

Twenty years ago it would have been thought of as a new age or hippy cafe or a hippy hangout and I guess it could be still considered that but now that “organic” and “sustainable” and “locally produced” are words in so many people’s vocabulary – it’s just a really cool space. They have lots of seating – lots of it retro and super comfy. You can recline in the shade under the trees or under the outside roofing, admiring the organic gardens growing herbs and veges. There’s even a cool kids space.

The inside has an Eco Shop (there was a sign there that said Byodynamic Organic Seasonal) with all sorts of natural and organic food as well as gifts. It has a real sense of community which is evident by the notices on the notice boards and advertisement -they offer all sorts of workshops and classes. Everything from Art as Healing Holiday Workshops for Children, The Fundamental Biodynamic Preparations – Horn Manure & Horn Silica Workshop, Herbalist workshops, craft and so on. Sunspace has lots of events and live music.  One Sunday we were there a guy was playing a guitar and it was (I want to say groovy…. ok I’ll say it) groovy sitting there listening. Really good music!

I also marvelled at all the people walking in with no shoes – it seems bare feet ruled supreme that particular visit.

I’ve never eaten an entire meal there – as I’ve normally stopped by after visiting Eumundi Markets and usually have a full belly. I do enjoy trying their healthy muffins though. I also enjoyed their ayurvedic hot chocolate. I’m not sure what was in it – a fair few ingredients I could taste and while it didn’t cure my asthma (and no, I didn’t expect it to!) there certainly is a special feel about the sunspace cafe – it even manages to get my type-A never-sits-still, partner to relax – and in my books that’s a great thing!

It’s worth the drive to check it out – and perhaps even check out their facebook page in advance to see if they have any workshops you’d be interested in trying. The staff are always super friendly and helpful.

Apologies for the plethora of photos – but this was over a few visits and it’s just so pretty I couldn’t help myself!

  1. I had NO idea the Sunspace cafe even existed! Thank you very much for sharing, I shall gather a few of my yoga pals together and pay them a visit. Best regards, Kym Morrisey.
